Truls Straume Næsheim

Truls is educated cand. med from the University of Bergen 2001. Since graduating, he has worked 5 month at the psychiatric department in Kristiansand hospital before his internship at Ålesund hospital. Truls worked as a PhD student at OSTRC in the period between February 2004 and April 2007.
His PhD project focused on the consequences of minor head traumas among the football players in the Norwegian top league, Tippeligaen. In 2008, Truls defended his PhD.
Since 2008, Truls has been working at the orthopaedic department at the Akershus University Hospital (AHUS), and finished his training as a specialist in orthopaedic surgery in 2015. Truls has a special interest in knee surgery and sports medicine. From 2016 to 2017, he trained as a clinical fellow at the knee surgery department at Guy´s. Hospital in London. After 1.5 years at Haugesund Rheumatism hospital he is now back in the ortopaedic team at AHUS.
Truls´ current projects at OSTRC are related to head injuries in footbal, biomarkers for concussions, and patella dislocation injuries.
