A new OSTRC study demonstrates how a common error may affect results and change conclusion of biomechanical studies of high-impact movements. Joints moments, essential to such analyses, are prone to artifacts when incorrect methods are applied in the filtering of raw data.

Jumping is different from sidestep cutting!
With his supervisor Tron Krosshaug, PhD student Kristianslund has looked at knee motion patterns in 120 elite female handball players who performed drop jumps and sidestep cutting. The study is now published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

High blood pressure seems to be associated with increased cardiac risk in professional football players
Despite of a low prevalence of hypertension in professional football players, new data published in Journal of Hypertension indicate a novel association between elevated blood pressure and reduced arterial compliance, increased left ventricle mass and left atrium volume even in young athletes.
